In these isolators, the re-centering capability comes from the rubber's inherent elasticity, while energy dissipation is provided by the specialized rubber compound's viscosity. Similar to HDRBs, LDRBs also consist of alternating rubber and steel layers, creating a structure with high vertical stiffness but low horizontal stiffness. This unique configuration allows them to support substantial vertical loads while accommodating significant horizontal displacement.
